List of experiments
(1)Measure displacement using linear variable differential transformer (LVDT) and obtain the voltage versus displacement curve. Determine,
(i)the sensitivity in V/mm (ratio of the change in output voltage to the corresponding change in displacement of the core), and
(ii) resolution (The smallest change in displacement that can be detected by the LVDT in mm, micrometre, or nanometre.).
(2) Measure the change in temperature of a resistor using resistance temperature detector (RTD) using both 3-wire and 4-wire configurations. Compare the results and conclude which configuration provides better accuracy and justify the reason.
(3) Determine the strain of a cantilever beam using strain gauge for quarter bridge, half bridge and full bridge configurations. Compare the results and identify the preferable configuration among the three methods.
Use standard weights such as 100 gram, 250 gram and 500 gram, 1000 gram and their combinations to apply load, at the end of the beam.
(4)Measure the intensity of light incident on a solar panel using light dependent resistor (LDR/ photoresistor module) to optimize the orientation of the solar panel for maximum energy harvesting. Plot a graph sun light of intensity and panel placement angle.
(5) Generate electricity using piezoelectric sensor to glow an LED. Plot a graph of generated voltage versus load. Use standard weights such as 100 gram, 250 gram and 500 gram, 1000 gram and their combinations to apply load.
(6) Measure the flux density in the vicinity of an electromagnet using a Hall effect sensor.
(7) Construct a circuit and control its ON/OFF operation using capacitive touch switch module, such as TTP223 or its equivalent.
(8) Using a suitable smoke, design and implement a smoke alarm system.
(9) Build a circuit using infrared (IR) sensor to avoid train collision by detecting another train on the same track and halting the train operation.
(10) Construct a circuit to measure and record heart rate using pulse heart rate sensor module.
